On July 1, British Airways introduced Boeing 787 service into Philadelphia International Airport with Flight 69V, the second of two daily non-stops from London Heathrow. Arriving under a cover of darkness Tuesday night, it brought an end to the use of the venerable Boeing 767 for this segment while adding additional capacity to the earlier-arriving 777 service.
Promising greater fuel efficiency, a more comfortable cabin environment and lower noise levels inside and out, the 787 looks certain to maintain the high standards of passenger service that customers have come to expect from Britain’s flagship carrier. It should also provide ample competition for other carriers serving London from the City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia joins Toronto, Newark and Austin as one of several new destinations for Boeing’s advanced new twin-jet.
