For years, NYCAviation has continuously grown far beyond our city limits as we look to fuel your passion for aviation through entertaining and educating features and content. From our articles, to Twitter, to our message boards, our store and more, we reach many hundreds of thousands every month promoting safe and loving skies.
As you know, this year has been challenging for us, with the sudden loss of our beloved Editor-In-Chief, Matt Molnar, in January. After a few other staffing changes, we have regrouped and grown our team to a size previously unseen, and with uncompromising purpose. I would like to introduce you to the addition of seven individuals to our squad that are both excited to serve you and contribute to the aviation enthusiast experience. Introduced below are the new team members joining myself and Lead Programmer Darin Gilchrist.
Matt’s talent and style is irreplaceable, and picking up his workload is no easy task, especially when handling an influx of articles with care and great efficiency. To this end, we have added three new faces to our editing team and they are Ben Granucci, Eric McKirdy, and Gabriel Andino. They have already begun publishing work of their own and that of other writers, and soon you will see a dramatic increase in daily content.
Another major addition to our team is that of Mark Lawrence, who is taking over the role of Producer. He will continue to foster existing relationships with our industry friends to source news and coordinate various event coverage. Mark lives in southern Florida and is a long time NYCAviation member and contributor making him a perfect fit for his new role.If you are a correspondent for NYCAviation, he is your guy. With all the interworking behind the scenes, we needed someone to take the reins as Project Manager. Andrew Marino, a former New Yorker who now resides in Los Angeles, is experienced in Airport Management and is a diehard aviation enthusiast and a very well-traveled man to boot. He will handle very specific tasks, the first one is wrapping up a long-standing and exciting project we have been cultivating for a while. (Relax! You’ll see soon enough!)
As you can imagine, coming up with ideas and constructing them are one thing, but implementing them in a way that serves our friends around the internet world is a talent and passion in and of itself. For that, we have recruited the abilities of Stephen Weisbrot. Stephen holds degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Communications and Advertising Design (summa cum laude) and is experienced with Brand Management & Advertising for a major airline. As Marketing Strategist at NYCAviation, he will help mold and execute NYCA’s goals in a way that best suits you and the viewing public.
The internet is a great medium that connects us to one another, but our passion and vision extends further than what the internet affords us. Our aim is to personalize the aviation enthusiast experience bridging tangible face-time with both airplanes and our aviation family. If you liked our and PHXspotters.com’s event recently, hosted at LAX, then you will certainly enjoy the forthcoming events planned for around the country. It may be a day of spotting, an evening of drinks, a casual tweetup or whatever, but its purpose is to give us the chance to shake hands and get to know each other. Sounds like a full-time job, huh? So, in order to pull this all together we have the great honor of welcoming famed aviation historian David Vanderhoof to join us as our Event Planner. He will be setting up all sorts of good times for one and all.
