A small plane crash landed at Brookhaven Airport on New York’s Long Island Thursday afternoon, but neither of the occupants were injured.
According to the Long Island Press, the plane, a Rutan Quickie Q200 CSA SportCruiser (N297SC), lost its canopy shortly after takeoff and was attempting to return to the field.
It crash landed just short one of Brookhaven’s 4,200 ft runways. The airport sits about 65 miles east of New York City.
The CSA SportCruiser is a Light Sport aircraft built by Czech Aircraft Works since 2006. It was briefly marketed in the US by Piper Aircraft as the PiperSport.
A Long Island Press report that this story initially cited incorrectly listed the aircraft as the Rutan Quickie Q200. The FAA confirms it was in fact a CSA SportCruiser.
