An electrical fire combined with foggy weather to shut down a runway at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport Sunday morning, causing dozens of flights to be cancelled.

The fire knocked out power to the lights on Runway 05/23, which had been in use at the time. Due to fog at the airport, the runway was unusable without the lights, but reopened once the fog cleared.

According to the airport’s website, 54 departing flights were cancelled as well as 47 arrivals.

Exactly a year ago to the day, another transformer fire in the area briefly knocked out power to the airport.
