Eight cocktails deep into Tuesday night’s JetBlue Portland to New York redeye, Robert Vietze had to pee really, really badly.
Unfortunately for Mr. Vietze, the lavatory was occupied by a man flying with his 11-year-old daughter. Unable to wait any longer, the 18-year-old South Warren, Vt. native rose up from his seat and stumbled about five rows before whipping it out and urinating on the young girl just as her dad was returning from the lavatory.
In an incredible feat of self-restraint, the dad somehow managed to not punch Vietze in the groin, though there was some yelling and cursing before the two were separated and Vietze escorted to the back of the plane.
Later in the flight, a man who complained of chest pains began vomiting and doctors and nurses were paged.
Vietze was taken into custody by four Port Authority police officers when the plane landed at JFK, was given a federal summons for indecent exposure and released. The sick passenger’s condition was unknown.
The NY Post story that brought this tale to light leaves out several key details. Was Vietze served alcohol on board the plane or at the airport before boarding? Did he use a fake ID to get it or did no one check? JetBlue isn’t saying anything.
