Air Canada Jazz to Purchase 15 Bombardier Q400 Turboprops

Hot on the tail of news of a 2009 profit, Halifax-based Air Canada Jazz issued a Letter of Intent to purchase 15 new Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft with options on another 15 more.  This purchase of the 74-seat turboprops will open the door for the carrier to plan its return to Toronto’s downtown island airport in competition with Porter Airways, which currently holds a monopoly over the airport.  Deliveries are set to begin in May 2011. The initial 15 aircraft will replace 15 50-seat Bombardier CRJ regional jets currently in the fleet.
