• It’s being reported that Iraqi insurgents have hacked into the live video feeds from UAV Predator drones. The $4.5 million unmanned aerial vehicle was out-witted by a program called “SkyGrabber” that costs just under $26. The feed to the base is not encrypted, and the USAF says that it would be expensive to modify. However, future models of drones, such as the RQ-3 Darkstar, will be encrypted.
• AirTran unveiled their fourth logojet, this time a Boeing 717-200 (registered N494AT) in Orlando Magic colors, to celebrate their signing of Dwight Howard as a spokesperson.
• Boeing has shared with the world an previously unseen photo of the 787 with its gear retracted. A majority of its first flight, and all other photos received, have been with the gear down while they test various systems.
• Air Canada announced daily nonstop service from St. John’s, Newfoundland to London Heathrow, between May 27, 2010 and September 26, 2010. Using an Airbus A319, it’s a small airplane from a small town, but Air Canada says they are excited to test the new route.
• Airline passengers who try to go through security with wrapped holiday presents will receive secondary screening, and volunteers at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport are offering free gift wrapping services to make up for it. [USAToday]
