To celebrate 10 years of operations this coming February, jetBlue unveiled a new paint scheme at a party in the LiveTV hangar in Orlando, FL. Though not a drastic change from the previous scheme, the airline’s titles towards the front of the plane are twice the size, and a new “blueberries” tail rounds out the back-end, which adds a fresher look to their brand.
The main portion of the body will remain white, which mostly is a big cost-saver for airlines as it will not fade, maintaining a cleaner appearance over time, and also will reflect sunlight, which keeps the plane cool. The blue underbelly of the aircraft also remains unchanged.
N561JB, named “La Vie en Blue” is the Airbus A320 that was chosen for the paint modification, and it is the first of at least several aircraft that will sport the same fresh tail as other aircraft are painted. Some repainted aircraft may keep their original tails but will still receive the magnified titles. JetBlue currently has 110 Airbus A320s and 41 Embraer E190s.
Backlit and off-center, but I'm not complaining! Though not astonishing, jetBlue's new look is refreshing, and will be a nice new addition among their fleet.
