American JFK-SEA Flight Diverted Due to Suspicious Device On Board

An American Airlines 757 (N703TW) passes the greatest skyline in the world on short final for LGA

An American Airlines flight out of New York’s JFK International Airport diverted to Chicago’s O’Hare because of a possible device found on board. Flight 289, a Boeing 757-200, was bound for Seattle with 158 passengers on board.

The suspicious device ended up being an old-style Walkman Cassette player left in the bathroom. Found by a passenger who did not recognize it, he alerted flight attendants and they landed at ORD as a precaution. The flight was cleared and departed at 12:20am EST to complete its flight to Seattle after landing in chicago at 8:23pm.
