Danny Anthony Lopez was 18-years-old in 2011 when he popped off his semi automatic rifle at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter, hitting the chopper and forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing. This week, Lopez, now 20, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for two counts of assault on a peace officer with a semiautomatic firearm. He avoided the more serious “shooting at an occupied aircraft” charge through a plea deal in August. [KABC]
