LAS VEGAS – Cessna on Monday announced the development of a new mid-size, eight-passenger business jet called the Citation Latitude.

Unveiled on the first day of the 2012 NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention in Las Vegas, Cessna the Latitude will sit between the Citation XLS+ and Citation Sovereign in Cessna’s product line. “Nowhere is the Latitude’s uniqueness more visible than inside the cabin,” said Brad Thress, senior vice president, Cessna Business Jets, in a statement. Indeed, the Latitude’s cabin will be 77 inches wide and 72 inches high, a full six inches wider and four inches taller than any previous Citation jet and closer to dimensions found in longer, more expensive jets such as the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global Express.
Cessna has teamed up with Heads Up Technologies to create Clarity, a new “intelligent cabin technology solution” that hooks into the Latitude’s avionics system and pipes internet and entertainment to passengers through seat-based touchscreens or their personal electronic devices.
Up in the cockpit, the Latitude delivers a ton of the latest control, safety and communications tech as standard equipment: The Garmin G5000 avionics system runs through three 14-inch LCD primary and multifunction displays plus four touch-screen control panels. Also standard: An integrated Flight Director/Autopilot and Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), TCAS II with Change 7.1, Synthetic Vision Technology, electronic charts, Garmin SafeTaxi, dual flight management system with WAAS LPV and RNP, solid-state weather radar with turbulence detection and vertical scan capability, integrated terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), ADS-B Out and Link 2000+ data link
