Two small planes crashed in a wooded area of Orange County, New York on Monday afternoon, state police said. Both pilots—one on each plane—were killed.
The planes, both single-engine, four-seat Pipers, apparently collided in midair.

A spokesman for Troop F of the New York State Police said the accident happened at around 3 pm local time in a wooded area off County Road 12 in New Hampton, about 4 miles south of Middletown and 60 miles north of New York City The wrecks are about 0.5 mile (0.8 kilometer) apart, and one of them was on fire.
