At least 16 people were killed Monday when a United Nations aircraft crashed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to the AFP news service.
The plane was enroute to the capitol city of Kinshasa from the northeastern town of Kisangani carrying 29 passengers and four crew. It was attempting to land in Kinshasa during a heavy rain storm when it went down.
A Kinshasa radio station reported the accident occurred at around 1pm local time. There was no word on the type of plane involved.
