Two people were killed on Wednesday after a gunman from Kosovo attacked a bus carrying U.S. soldiers at Frankfurt airport, German police said.

Frankfurt Airport

The driver of the bus and a U.S. soldier were reportedly killed after shots were fired around 3:20 pm (1420 GMT) on a bus lane in the public part of Terminal 2 at the country’s largest international airport. At least one other person on the bus, also thought to be a soldier, was seriously injured in the attack, German press agency DPA reported.

“It looks like everything happened inside the bus,” police spokesman Juergen Linker told the German press agency.

A 21-year-old was arrested following the shooting, and it is not clear if it was a terrorist attack. Police hasn’t been able to determine the circumstances of the shooting. The suspect probably had a knife, but the nature of the weapon involved was not immediately clear as well as the number of people aboard the bus.
