Several people were injured on late Sunday afternoon when a small plane crashed in a Utah neighborhood, officials said.

The small single-engine aircraft went down in a residential area of Roy near Ogden-Hinkley Airport at around 5.58 p.m. MST, not far from Salt Lake City. It had hit utility poles and trees before it crashed into a house, putting the home and two others on fire.

Few details were immediately available, but police said there were no reports of fatalities. Witness Gary Cox told NBC affiliate KSL-TV that he had helped pull the pilot from the plane.

Cox told KSL-TV that the pilot was confused and badly burned as a result of the crash but was able to tell him that no one else was aboard the plane.

It was not immediately clear if and how many people were inside the homes when the accident happened, but authorities said several people were injured. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Some 1,700 people were without power as a result of damage caused by the crash.

Low visibility enveloped the airport at the time of the accident, with a 200 foot ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility.
