The colors and logos of the University of Idaho, the University of Montana and Montana State University will each be represented on three unique Horizon Air Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft starting in November, according to the Seattle-based carrier.

With the addition of these planes, Horizon will fly a total of eight university-themed aircraft. Since 2008, the airline has painted planes to represent five other public schools in the northwest: Boise State University, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, the University of Washington and Washington State University.

Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (PUW) will host the unveiling of the University of Idaho plane on November 10th, Missoula International Airport (MSO) will be the site of the University of Montana event on November 19th, while Montana State University’s plane will be celebrated at Gallatin Field (BZN) in Bozeman on November 30th.

“In the nearly 25 years I have been with Horizon, I can think of nothing that has generated as much excitement among our customers as our university-themed aircraft,” said Dan Russo, Horizon’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Now, with the University of Idaho and Montana’s largest public universities joining our fleet, we look forward to thrilling even more school fans.”

The airline says the planes in question are due to be repainted anyway so there will be no additional costs incurred. Each plane will be out of service for 10 days.
