Hawaiian Airlines Reports 14.3% Jump in August Traffic

Hawaiian Airlines, Inc., a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings, Inc., on Tuesday said its August traffic rose 14.3% to 840.09 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 734.76 million RPMs in August 2009.

Capacity in August improved 11% to 954.49 million available seat miles (ASMs) from 860.09 million ASMs in August 2009.

Load factor for the month increased 2.6% to 88%. Total passengers transported was 787.85 million, up 5.5% from 746.65 million in the previous year. Year-to-date, traffic rose 3.7% to 5.70 billion RPMs from 5.49 billion RPMs in 2009.

The airline said total passengers transported amounted 5.67 billion, up 1.3% from 5.59 billion in 2009.
