A passenger plane crashed on Tuesday night in the Russian Krasnoyarsk region, killing seven people, Russian Emergency Service Chief Irina Andrianova said, Interfax reported.

“At 21:40 Moscow time, when the [Katekavia Airlines] plane was landing, at 700 meters from the runway at Igarka airport, the [Antonov AN-24] crashed. The plane was flying from Krasnoyarsk to Igarka,” she said.

The AN-24 is a twin turboprop airplane that entered service in Soviet Russia during the height of the cold war. Over 1,000 were made and around 880 are still in service, mostly in Africa and former Soviet Republics (CIS).

There were fifteen people on board, four of them crew and 11 passengers. There were eight survivors, according to Andrianova.

Earlier reports said all 15 people aboard the plane were killed in the crash.
