Two terror suspects were arrested aboard a United Airlines flight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands on Monday morning, officials said on Tuesday.
The two men, identified by American media as Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi, of Detroit, MI, and Hezam al Murisi, were taken into custody after United Airlines Flight 908 landed at Schiphol around 9.20 a.m. local time on Monday.
Martijn Boelhouwer, a spokesman for Dutch prosecutors, confirmed the arrests but declined to say why they were arrested. Boelhouwer said the arrests were made after information was received from American authorities.
ABC News reported that the men have been charged with preparing a terrorist attack after “mock bombs” were found in their luggage. “This was almost certainly a dry run, a test,” a senior law enforcement official told the network.
