Delta Air Lines grounded three Boeing 767 planes at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday, stranding more than 600 passengers, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to the New York Post, the three flights were scheduled to take off for Europe. One of the planes was turned back after take off, the other two never left the ground.
Barcelona-bound Delta Flight 94 – with 210 passengers – returned and landed safely, an hour and a half after take off. It returned because of engine problems.
“The delays are incredible, there are no supervisors to talk to and my luggage is held hostage,” Wendy Levy told the New York Post after spending 10 hours at the airport.
The second plane had a faulty indicator light, and the third delay involved “maintenance,” according to Delta.
