Boeing completed the first power-up of a General Electric GEnx powered 787 Dreamliner on Monday. The engines, installed on the fifth airframe to be built (ZA005) will be run through a series of ground tests to ensure that the aircraft is ready for its first flight later in the current quarter of 2010.

Dreamliner customers can choose between the GEnx engines and the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for their aircraft. The first four 787 Dreamliners to come off the assembly line have all been powered by the RR option.
