• The second Boeing 787 Dreamliner has already taken flight, this one sporting the livery of their launch customer, All Nippon Airways. The two-hour flight yesterday departed Paine Field and landed at Boeing Field just like the maiden flight last week.
• After a 90-minute check ride, the FAA has approved Santa Claus to operate global flights for this Christmas on his sleigh (registered N0EL), which is equipped for RNAV approaches as well as ADS-B. All Santa tracking can be done at here.

• American Airlines Flight 331, flying from Miami to Kingston, Jamaica overshot runway 12 on landing, coming to rest just a few feet short of the water. There were no fatalities among the 154 people on-board the Boeing 737-800 (registered N977AN (cn 29550/1019). The aircraft was attempting to land in heavy rain at the time on the 8,900-foot runway with little space between the Caribbean Sea on either end. The plane, delivered in December of 2001, was heavily damaged with the fuselage separating in two places and will be written off.
• Not to be outdone, a Ryanair 737-800 (EI-DHD) ran off of a taxiway and into the grass after landing at Prestwick Airport in Scotland. No injuries were reported and the aircraft is also said to have received no damage.

• LAN Airlines has ordered 30 new Airbus A320s, which they will receive between 2011 and 2016 at a price of approximately $1.97 billion. LAN also announced that they will be selling five Airbus 318s. [FlightGlobal]
