1978 – PSA Flight 1982, a 727-200 (registered N533PS) collides with a Cessna 172 (registration N7711G) while on approach to Sand Diego Airport, killing 144 people, 7 of them on the ground. The blame for the crash was place on the PSA crew for not reporting to ATC that they had lost visual contact with the Cessna.

1955 – The Royal Jordanian Air Force is founded.

1929 – Jimmy Doolittle performs the first blind flight from Mitchel Field, proving that full Instrument Flying from takeoff to landing is possible.

1903 – The Wright Brothers arrives in Kitty Hawk, NC, for testing of their powered flight airplanes.
