While the Miami area is now inundated with Spring Breakers concerned with tans, intoxication, and other things that will not be mentioned I saw some real action over at MIA while visiting family. They got some real nice airplanes down there. The El Dorado location is excellent, people came and went from there all day and we were never visited by the police or any other organization investigating "people taking pictures". I did drive over to the "Holes" but there are no parking signs posted in the area directly across the street, and there wasn't a single person standing by the holes in the fence, so I drove back to El Dorado and just stayed there. Needless to say, I was not happy to have to leave MIA, or the break from the freezing cold that I see is still up here.
I'll start with the regulars and get progressively more awesome.
Ex-LAN, now flying for ABSA
The strobes on the Eastern were turned on for about 5 minutes and I thought I was going to get a nice departure shot, but alas the lights were turned off.
This spotter was from Atlanta and was there for the whole day as well
And finally, the showstopper, born in 1975 and raised by Air Canada, with 3 holes and 3 flightcrew, and the one plane I was waiting for all day- and much louder than I remember them being. You whippersnappers can have your 787's and A350's, I can't even tell when those planes are taking off for pete's sake, are planes even allowed to make any noise anymore???
A nice crowd was on hand for Boeing's classic trijet
A Convair 580 went off from Runway 12 but it was too far away for me to get a shot that wasn't murdered by the heat haze.
I hope you enjoyed looking at these as much as I enjoyed capturing them in person.
