Unfortunately, PANYNJ doesn't seem to put out a ton of information on the Family Day portion of the events, but the Special Olympics does for the plane pull side of things which runs concurrently. While I have no reason to believe that the hours of Family Day are any different from last year (9-3), it looks like the shuttle busses in will be available starting at 6AM should anybody want to get there that early. Remember if you drive that you need to have your parking validated inside the event. Last year, the table for that was just past the security check.
Ben, You mention shuttle buses will be available starting 6AM. Is that right? Sounds early if the event starts at 9AM. I'm trying to figure what time to arrive.
    Thanks

Don, I'm just echoing what the flyer from the Special Olympics says. It probably starts that early to get all of the volunteers inside. The plane pull starts at 8, Family Day starts at 9. You could definitely get in around 8 I would say, before that is unknown. PANYNJ doesn't seem to post a whole lot of information on this event, so most of what I'm sharing are the little tidbits that I've picked up from various sources along with what I remember from last year. I got a little more information from PANYNJ via Twitter yesterday and will be updating the first post momentarily.

When it says for parking to be validated, what does it mean by that? Can I just go and grab a ticket from the automatic dispenser and pay at the end when I exit like at Terminals A,B, and C? Or is P4 a different process? Thanks.

Bring the ticket with you into the event. They have a tent there who will "validate" your parking so the garage is free if you go to the event.
At least that's how it worked last year.

Phil, the flier says the event is until 1600L. But I have also heard 1500L so who knows? When they kick Ben out then you will know it's over.

I'll be heading out from near Grand Central in a rental car just after 9am with Dabbey if anyone this side of the river would like a ride. Hit me up on Twitter (@thatjohn). Probably returning after the event, potentially via some kind of dinner.
