Las Vegas, McCarran Airport - week in review

Week in review, hope the amount of pictures is not a problem :) for more visit my flickr

I had amazing time in Vegas... spotting places are just wow... I talked to TSA when spotting from parking garage, two guys just stopped by to see some departures... I wish around JFK would be so easy.... sometimes is but sometimes is not.... in Vegas nobody is checking ID, nobody asking questions. Around the airport all you need is tune your radio to 101.1 FM and you don't need scanner....

Anyone can tell me something about this plane ?? anything ?? there was no registration actually there is just a number 9118 and on the nose 118

Excellent catches Chris! Just curious what garage and level did you spot from? Looks like you where very near all the action.

You take the elevator all the way up and go left. The employee part of the parking garage. I have been on those SPs! They truly are special, in fact they let me sit in both captains chairs which blew my mind! Glad they were both in town for you. Next time you go give me shout my buddy is at the viewing area a lot and has a truck and ladders.

Great shots! Looks like you had some nice rwy 1/19 departures? I also like how Luxor makes the aero mexico ERJ look like it has a huge vertical stabilizer.

That untitled DC-9 appears to be property of the US Navy

shots with buildings in the background are taken from the long term parking garage level 6, very easy access, arrivals are taken from the "spotting" parking lot which is described as a spot A in the spotting guide here on nyca

Vegas is amazing, I started to think about moving to Vegas....

Arrivals are pretty close you can use something around 100mm to catch full frame shots, for departures with casinos in the background 400mm is enough....

That's one of those "Area51" birds. Very high security around them.
Great work Chris, looks like you grabbed almost all of SWA's special schemes while there.

Chris, awesome collection. It is amazing that I go to VEgas sometimes twice a year but at least once a year on business and never spotted other than from my room at the Mandalay Bay (which I always get overlooking the airport)

Of course the Janets are my faves because of their "Mystery" LoL

Actually you are both wrong, some nice dressed business men told me that they are old Western Airlines aircraft that are normally Chartered and that Area 51 does not exist. I am just saying
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Great stuff! LAS is great to spot at, glad you had 1/19 departures, I had none during my visit. A couple of my favorites from my trip.

Btw, any place that allows prostitution and gambling should be ok with spotting :-)

Here is some backround info on the Southwest plane with only the number 9118. It is a 737-700 registered as N945WN and is named Florida One. It's Southwest newest special livery.

EDIT: If you ever need me to get some backround on an aircraft just pm me! :)
