    JFK 04/24/10 - Review

Had a great weather day...until about 5pm when the clouds started to really take over and ruin Qantas (Play Soccer scheme), TAM & Air France's evening 777. All in all it was a good day, pretty good weather, good company. It was nice meeting Chris (the FDNY dispatcher) hope to see him on here soon. It was good to see Matt, as well as Mark & Mike again, who with their youthful wisdom, came up with a way to make spotting at the mounds a little more relaxing (see pictures below). To those I forgot to mention I apologize. Not too many specials today, mostly the regular stuff:

    Air China B744

    American B777

    Qatar B777

    China Eastern A346

    Air Berlin A330

    Emirates B777

    BA A318

    Air France A380

    Delta A330

    Falcon 50 - Tyson Foods

I mentioned earlier about more relaxed spotting at The Mounds, here's the proof.

I see the dust spots on a few...tried processing too fast, time to re-do!

Day started out in Bayswater and ended up at the mounds when they switched to the 22's.

Weather was gorgeous, also great to meet the new guys.

Here are my favorites from today:

Looks like it's mating season for AA's Boeings.

My first shot of Qatar's new 773ER service.

My first shot of China Eastern's new schedule into JFK.

Another first for me, the A318 Speedbird service from London City.

    A pleasant surprise.

    Face-to-face titles.

    The gem of the day.

Lots of awesomeness going on here.

I like the new typeface for Royal Air Maroc. When did that happen?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I'm gonna start selling old car seats and putting Canon or Nikon? logos on them. Sit courtside at the mounds, sit hidden in the forest, sit in the bed of your pickup, sit in the roof of your (or neighbor's!) house, sit in the parking lot. You will be royally seating while the "regular people" are standing. "Sit and spot with confidence".

Nice shots everyone. I might be alone on this but the A346 which I always thought was the least photogenic widebody out there, dressed up in classic China Eastern paintscheme IMO looks much more graceful than any of the 777-300s maybe w/ the exception of ANA's. Amazing how a somewhat weird plane the A346 can look good in a good livery. Ok I think I've said that before...
