    Huzzah!- Oral Surgery Tomorrow

Together, all of my four healthy wisdom teeth will need to come out to make room for my regular teeth. Problem is, I'm not sure if they've even broken through the gumline yet.

I just realized I had the appointment tomorrow, and I'm a bit anxious, and I'll admit, a bit scared also. I've never had roots pulled out of my mouth before.

It aint too bad, they put you to sleep while they do the operation... and afterwards give you strong pain killers. Hope it goes ok!

You'll be ok...I had three of mine pulled out at one time and I wasn't put under. One was impacted. Other than getting sick of pudding and jello and yogurt for a week, it isn't bad at all.

I just had implant surgery this past weekend and it went extremely well. My Periodontist is an artist! I had zero pain afterward and was eating a normal meal by the evening. It truly depends on the person who's performing the procedure. If anyone needs a good Periodontist I use Long Island Periodontal Specialists, these guys are top notch and perform amazing work.

Just got back about an hour ago. I'm surprised how quick it was and how painless it was. It took about 15 minutes to remove two wisdom teeth, one of which was still partly in my gum and hadn't emerged fully yet. He told me to just make a gesture whenever I felt pain. That happened during the first tooth, and he gave an extra shot of anesthetic right to the middle of the tooth and that was it. I imagined the procedure would've taken a lot longer.

It was just a lot of pulling, and the sound of teeth cracking, but that was it. It's an hour after I got back now, and my cheek is still numb, but it seems the pain's about to set in. I'm still biting on gauze. I got two prescriptions, one for an antibiotic and another for a prescription painkiller, Tylenol 3.

    2 down, 2 to go.

The anesthetic is wearing off now, and the pain is really starting to ratchet up. I just took the antibiotic and painkiller a few minutes ago.

The painkiller is Co-codamol, or Tylenol 3, which is essentially a mix of acetaminophen, the stuff in regular Tylenol, and codeine, which is an opiate and a narcotic. Interestingly, there was actually a special "Controlled Substance" label on the Co-codamol bottle.
