    Chinese Engine on 757?

I heard today that an airline (not mine) recently had an engine changed on a 757...and it was replaced with a Chinese engine.

I'm confused by this. Does this mean that some Chinese company makes engines like that, and a plane can have tow engines from different companies?

I thought that a plane was only allowed to use engines from pre-approved companies like RR and P&W.

Or was a fed bum info? Or is P&W really Chinese after all? ;)

I don't think any major western manufacturers build engines in China. Maybe it was a used engine they procured from a Chinese carrier.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
