Sigma APO DG 70-300, anyone use one?

Hey, guys, Iv'e been out lens shopping for a lens up to 300mm range. My friend told me about this Sigma lens and said he hasn't tried it out but would like to. Have any of you used it and how would you rate it? For 200 bucks, sounds pretty good to me, what do you guys think and if not this lens, what lens would you recomend?

Its a good starter lens to get you going with photography. Sigma generally makes good products and this will give you some real practice to get your technique going before going out and spend more money. I started with a Tamron 70-300mm and it worked great for me and helped me tremendously before I laid out thousands on new EQ.

Now, would you recommend getting this lens or the Canon EF 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 IS USM? What do you think has a better choice?

Are you talking about he Canon 70-300 with IS or not? If your talking about the one with IS then hands down the Canon. However if I had the choice now I'd prob go with the entry level Canon 70-300mm if I were just starting out.

I was talking about the IS lens. I have experience shooting with film SLR but no digital. What lens would you recommend?

If that's the case then hands down the Canon lens. The 70-300 IS is an amazing lens that some have compared to some of Canon's L glass. Go with the Canon then.

Alright, will do. Thanks for all the help T-bird!

P.S. I love your avatar, I can still remember TWA at DTW, there are still signs of TWA left at DTW in the old Smith Terminal, worn out signs, faded letters. The entrance sign to the terminal you can still clearly see where TWA was written. Actually up in the old control tower, which is now the Operations Control tower, they have a TWA sign that was taken from a TWA gate here, pretty neat

Lol, next time I'm up there I will try ;), the Director of Airfield Operations at DTW has a nice TWA Boeing 307 model too, I wanted it! He has a pretty good collection of models in his office (and an AWESOME view too!)
