    First 30D Pics (From LGA)

Phil and I were out this morning real early to catch some 13-departure shots at LGA. These are the first "real" pics I've taken with my 30D and I'd like some feedback, especially regarding my editing. I noticed a huge difference in the quality of the pictures over the Rebel. The biggest challenge was in the sharpening. The camera seems to take very sharp pictures overall and any sharpening in PS would produce jaggies pretty quickly. I'm shooting in the default camera setting, I'm wondering if I should set my own parameter and lower the internal sharpening? Thanks in advance.

Great shots Tommy! Your going to kill on your next trip to LAX & LAS! Where the heck were you guys at to get these shots off 13? I heard 4-22 was closed so I didn't bother heading out today.

The photos are amazing, now, I suck at taking photos, but, the Delta photo seemed blurry, did you do something with photo editing? The photos before the Delta photos were amazingly sharp....

Tom, now I have to go out and drop some money on a 30D. lol I like them! Pics look good. You said you notice a difference in sharpness from the XT, meaning the 30D is sharper? What lense where those shot with? and how do you like the 5FPS compared to the 3FPS? That LCD screen is almost the size of my 4x6 prints, lol.

These were taken with the 100-400 IS L lens. I haven't used burst mode yet. When I spot I do single shotting.

We saw the PSA go overhead from our position and land on 13, but the sun got too high before it departed and we had left already.

They also switched runways a couple times after that from 13 to 31 departures.

    Hey Tommy,

great shots bro...makes me want to come up to the area asap to do some shooting. Anyway, I know what you're talking about with the sharpening issue. The default Canon parameters generally oversharpen the shots and add way to much contrast and saturation (at least that was the way it was in my case). If I were you I would set the picture style to "Neutral" which basically disengages any in-camera adjustments to the photos. After that you can just edit them is PS. Just my $0.02 Tommy, hope it helps! :)

    Regards,
    -Omar S.
