    AF 773ER CDG-JFK

since i missed the damn thing last time this time i around i want to catch it. unfortunately for me i have very bad luck and last time i was at JFK with nick we a. got $180 in tickets, b. missed the AF 773, NW DC9, LY 747, DH DC8 and the B6 190 arriving to 31R while we were shooting 31L.... ARGH!!! :x :x :x

does anyone know when the service started and how long it's going to run before they go bye-bye?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Yep, we really screwed the dog on that one. We were sitting in Costco watching endless AA and B6 birds going by, drove to the park and watched all the good stuff started coming in 31R. The DHL DC8 really pissed me off. Just sent my donation to the Port Authority, I better get a Christmas card!

Is this what you are looking for?

Showed up just before 3 pm Saturday - about a half hour before NCPD broke up our little party.

Nick - what park do you use to shoot 31L from?

I shot my first AF B777-300 in Oct 2004 so they've been around for a while now. I do not recall the first day of service sorry.

I am not sure of the name but it's a short drive from Costco and right across the water from Inwood CC. It may be called Inwood park. Conplete with an old lady that calls the police on you. Senga may know the name. I go there a lot. It's a nice spot.

They didn't really break it up, but after they showed up, questioned us, and then parked together chatting, we decided to call it a day - it was getting late as well, and we'd been there for over an hour (maybe 1:30 total).

I've been to Inwood Park to shoot 04 arrivals, didn't realize you could get good 31L approach stuff as well. I will have to check it out soon.

I have to work this week, but I'm taking next week (Thanksgiving) off, so I may be up for some mid-week spotting.

Apparently the B777-300ER is flying Air France 8 and I think Air France 6 for the rest of the winter.

    I could be wrong though!

Matt, don't think they are ending it at least not according to skeds. I know skeds are always change and never 100% correct but they list the 77W (777-300) for the CDG-JFK flight until as far as skeds are pulling up (next fall). Some days/weeks it's double-daily 77W's. So, no worries, you'll get plenty of opportunity to shoot that beast.
