probably just some bored pilots going for a $100 burger. then again, they don't pay for the gas.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

It's actually not that uncommon to see USMC Seaknights/Chinooks doing flight ops over the Great South Bay during the summer. I've must have seen it 3-4 times in the past 2 years.

Taken a few minutes ago...no airplanes tho!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Saw a Cape Air Cessna 402 departing around 5:45 this evening. Never even had a chance to grab the camera before he was past me...

Tenants were advised today to ensure aircraft are tied down and any loose items on the ramp be taken up or completely secured. They have until Saturday to comply...what the airport will do after that if they don't, I have no idea.

Thanks. I see on Facebook the AAM is stuffing as much as they can in their hangar. A little OT here but I wonder what NYPD Aviation is doing? Their hangar is right on the water there.

I stopped down for a few hours of stuffing this afternoon after battening hatches at home. There isn't much more room in that place right now - about the only things they have on the ramp are the F-105, F-111, T-33, a couple of other small non-flying aircraft, and a few trucks (as a buffer next to a couple of those tied town aircraft). Assuming there is no damage, it's going to take most of the week to get everything back into place for Labor Day weekend.

FEMA and US Army Corp of Engineers using the tarmac at the Main Terminal as a staging point for their temporary HQ and flatbeds with emergency generators.
And an Army Guard UH-60, 27-043 departed Sheltair at 2:55 heading out to the North.
