Wink Spotting from US Open for Free !

Be advised that the US Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows will be open to the public daily from Aug 24-27 and for FREE. You can bring your photo equipment into the stadium. Hopefully, LGA will be departing from Rwy 13 so aircraft will pass-by the Tennis Center. I forgot if you are allowed to bring your own food/water into the Center. I will try to find-out and then post. I went a few times last year and it was fun watching the matches and LGA departures at the same time. Enjoy!

I checked, and while glass bottles are prohibited, you can bring-in plastic water bottles as well as limited quantities of food. There is food sold on premises and despite news reports of outrageous prices, the prices are no more then at local sports stadiums. A bottle of soda is not $10 at the Open !

For those interested, here is the official site for the US Open.. for those curious, according to the parking map, the marina lots will remain open for normal use during the event.

This is also a good site with tips regarding going to the Open

I would actually think that you'd want Expressway Visual 31 arrivals instead of runway 13 departures....the departures are very high up already by the time they are at the US Open.
