    Mitchell Field in "The Godfather"

I hope this is the correct place for posting this. It is sort of aviation-related. I was doing research on the film "The Godfather" which was aired this week on cable, and according to the website, that scene at the Tollbooth where Sonny meets his Maker, was shot at Mitchell Field in Garden City. Also interesting, the Corleone Estate shown was actually filmed up in Riverdale.

I don't think you're correct. I've read that scene was filmed at Jones Beach on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

I agree with you. I had always thought that the Tollbooth Scene was filmed on the Meadowbrook, too. Those wooden lampposts with the crossbeams on top were used on the Meadowbrook for years. The website, Internet Movie Database, which is pretty accurate, http://www.imdb.com, states that scene was filmed at Mitchell Field. That site usually researches carefully before they post anything. It is very difficult to get them to change their listings. Maybe a different scene was filmed at Mitchell.
