Thank you for the kind words, Doug.
Thank you for the kind words, Doug.
You've certainly been making good use of your free time down there! I particularly enjoy the photos that are taken when the light is RED and the others that show the terminal/shipping environment in the background. I've never shot at SYD, but it's nice to see they have some elevated points to shoot from. That always adds to the dramatic nature of a photo.
And.. DAMN. This photo:
Hah, thank you so much! They certainly get some stunning light early in the morning, and I have been told the number of mornings I have gotten with south winds and sunshine is unique, as it usually brings the rain and clouds. These elevated shots are from the new Rydges rooftop deck, and while not free as I have said, I fully believe it to be worth the minimal expense- no different that paying parking at JFK or IAD.
And I appreciate the kind words about that shot of VH-OGG, I was thrilled when she rotated so early!
Time for the catches from the latter half of April and the first few days of May. A bit of a quiet period for me, due to illness, but I made it out a few times.

Thanks, guys!
I guess it is time for me to report back in after another week-ish worth of life down under. This time I actually have a pretty large amount of (what I think to be) decent quality stuff for y'all! So I will just dive right in.
First up, Wings Over Illawarra airshow. Cancelled due to extremely high winds, some decent shots were still had. This first jet made it well worth the price of admission and long trip to the show.

Then it was back to SYD, where the rare 25 departures were in use due to the strong winds. A slight delay due to the 25 usage and the different vantage point allowed for some slightly-less-crap lit photos of Scoot and Fiji than have henceforth been possible

I had no idea how quickly a 747 could get off the ground and climb until this flight, an empty ferry hop minus the hour worth of fuel needed to get to Brisbane, rocketed off of 34L

Here went Virgin Atlantic's last departure from Sydney. Lots of locals came out for the last day, it was clear that she will be missed by the spotters and enthusiasts alike

love it !!!
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!
Thanks 727C47!
Another week another update. Since the regular traffic has been well documented, just a few to cease boring you all with duplicates.
There is talk of this one losing this wonderful livery in the coming weeks, so I was thrilled to finally catch her in the air

Fiji only has one of these 737-700s, and I had never seen her depart 34L before. Lucky catch for me to say the least

Finally caught the Thai 747 departure! Lots of weird runway swaps had prevented it up until this point.

Great shots and planes - you'll get there a pretty good collection of planes.
I wish, some more special planes Qantas would send to JFK.
