Just wondering but does the pilot have to get the OK from his boss to allow you to fly on the copter?

    >[quote="njgtr82"]Had the opportunity to go up for a flight on Channel 2's news helo this afternoon. <

Wonder if that might be your last chance to do that. Was just reading on a helicopter related forum and it looks like
the downsizing of American companies is reaching the ENG market also. Many stations in major cities around the country
(Dallas, Philly, Cleveland) are cutting loose their copters or replacing turbines with smaller Robinson R44s. JUst like with
the corporate jets, aviation related assests seem to be the first to go when the times are tough.

gorgeous work Bill! If I remember correctly, the helis used to be based at CDW a handful of years ago. I remember having a pic of the channel 7, 4, and 5 helis. Actually, I think they consolidated two of those....i can't remember entirely. Anyhow, awesome shots!

Mike, I believe that is correct for a while after 9/11 maybe? I'm not exactly though. Its a shame they're gonna consolidate some ops but it makes sense. Most of the time they are all at the same location at the same time. Also thanks for the kind comments guys.

5 & 9 consolidated. Sometimes the other channels will use a pool chopper to save $$.

Also makes sense to use the Fox5 ship as that is set up for HD and pretty much state of the art.
