2052, the PS3 is on a wireless feed to the net. But I am not sure how to set up security devices.
Thanks for the help. Primary goal nailed and just have to figure out security measures.

I take it you bought an all-in-one device? (Wireless, routing, and switch)
Did you set a security WEP/WPA?
If so, take the passcode, and enter it into the PS3 under WEP/WPA (Depending on which one it is)
Also, if I may recommend:
If you haven't done so, set a WPA passcode
Change the default name of your router
Change the default gateway on your router (to anything in the range of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.255.255)
And above all else, please change your default Administrator password!!!!
To access the settings in your router, just type in the Default gateway (IP of the router), on Linksys it is 192.168.0.1 on Belkin it is 192.168.2.1.
nwa FOREVER!
Hey Matt and Matt.
By security, I meant for the PS3. the wep/wpa thing. I still have to square that away.
I ahve this router, Linksys, Wireless-G 2.4Ghz.
Over the last 4 days , maybe twice, I has a "dns" error, noted on my PS3 first. Is that cause of the security thing?

DNS errors on the PS3 seem common. If I'm not mistaken, the PS3 supports both WEP and WPA, so that should not be the problem. I read this in a post once:
The way this was resolved for me (and I know someone else mentioned it in an other post here), was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. Voila... I am upgrading my PS3 software as I write this....
Well, I am trying to hook up my PS3 with wireless as well, but now I'm having trouble.
I plugged in all my passwords crap, and that part seems to work. But when it goes to connect, it "connects", but times out when it tries to obtain and IP address.
Anyone have any idea what I can be doing wrong?

Soft reset the router. Sometimes the DHCP will mess itself up and not assign IP's correctly. Also, if you entered the WEP/WPA key wrong, it will bounce back with that response.
"lol retart"
So the key could have been wrong after all? I thought if it got to the IP part that it has gotten past that part.

(What's with all of the PS3s lately? I just bought a 360 to replace my PS2...)
Could be the wrong key. I know the PS3 isn't running Windows, but in Windows sometimes if you enter the wrong key it doesn't tell you, it just fails to connect, not sure if that's a router bug or a Windows bug.

I got it to work. It's now updating, which seems to take a couple weeks.

Sorry I missed your guys' replies.
Yeah, if you enter the wrong passcode, it won't bounce back to you.
Does everyone have their stuff set up?
