The Eisenhower Park event is amazing!! Just a large variety of USN/USMC helicopters fly in with amazing flybys when they arrive. Then they shutdown on the big field and you can get up close and personal with the aircraft and the pilots/crew!! Lots of parking and very kid friendly!! I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity!!
List of visiting ships and units was updated. The Canadian submarine is off the list.

Anybody see/hear about tines yet?
I know in years past they had the ships come up the Hudson first thing. I'm also curious as to what (if any) aviation assets will make an appearance.
EVERYONE IS THERE TO SEE THE SHERPA!
Here's all the details about the USMC & NAVY Helicopter Landing at Eisenhower Park on Saturday,
that includes USMC CH-53 Super Stallion and AH-1W Cobra helicopters and a performance by the
NAVY Leap Frogs Parachute team and a NAVY EOD Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron also

Chris I've been going to this since 2011. Only year I missed was 2013 because all military demos were cancelled!! This is such a great demo and every year the USMC tweak it!! Back in 2012 they flew in two Ospreys, in 2014 two Stallions and two Cobras. Last year a Cobra, a Super Huey, an Osprey and a Sea Knight!!
Also they are pretty much on time and this is the first time the Navy has a parachute team. No sooner than the Seahawks are revving up to leave you can see and hear the Marine copters circling in the distance!! When they land its pretty impressive with the Cobras circling low and fast then the big ships come in off loading combat ready troops!! Awesome photo/video opportunities and you can get up close and personal with man and machine!!
The weather is beautiful, Eisenhower Park is filling up and a CH-53 is circling the Park ready to drop their jumpers!!Oh baby I love this stuff!!
It was actually a Navy MH-53E Sea Dragon that was used to drop the Leap Frog jumpers who did a great job. The -53 then landed, such a BEAST, followed by two Seahawks who came in first but went out again until the -53 landed. As usual after shutting down the gates opened and the crowd stormed the field. I was watching the Navy band play, they are quite good, and when they finished a song the singer says they are taking a break as another helicopter was coming in. Huh? The field was PACKED where the heck they going to land? Minutes later SkyHealth EMS helicopter of Northwell Health, an EC-135 circles the field a number of times before landing on a secondary field nearby!! That was a treat and I had a nice conversation with the pilot an expatriate from Scotland who had been living here for 16 years but I still detected the accent!! Very nice guy!!
Then it came time for the copters to depart but as they cranked up a USMC CH-53E was flying low overhead waiting to land I saw the SkyHealth pilot look up as it roared past and I was hoping they were in radio contact. Eventually they elevated straight up and headed out to the North. Soon after the Seahawks lifted and about 10 later the Dragon headed up and out!! Not long after that more Big Metal came in as the CH-53E landed and as we waited a V-22 Osprey flew over us in plane mode then came in from the north over the trees into the LZ. Once again the crowds swarmed in. It was pretty hot out there so I grabbed a cold bottle of water and found a bench in the shade to cool down for about 20 minutes!! Then I went back into the field to walk around the aircraft. Around 2 they made the announcement to clear the field and the two aircraft slowly, and I mean slowly, began to fire up their engines and turn rotors. I moved into position so the aircraft would come right at me and I noticed the crew of the Osprey had called in the FD engine that was there. Not sure what was going on but someone did say maybe they had them water down the field to keep debris from flying. Well the Stallion eventually lifted then the Osprey began to spool up and for what seemed like ages they lifted off and headed out to the SE. Thought maybe going to FRG for a flyby!!
it was another great event and for a Rotorhead like me it was like Xmas time!! Just a great opportunity to see these military copters up close and personal!!!
