On May 8th the 70th anniversary of VE day there will be a large fly over of world war 2 aircraft over Washington.
It looks to be one of the largest and most diverse fly overs of WWII aircraft.

Overheard on JFK TOWER - S Turns are fine, U-Turns are bad....
Wow that awesome!! Hope the weather holds up!! Wonder where they will be flying out of. Multiple airports?
Yes, they'll be flying out of both Culpeper Regional Airport (CJR) and Manassas Regional Airport (MNZ) in VA for the flyover.
Very cool! I may need to get up there for this.

Only going if the Ploesti flyover comes in 30 feet off the deck...if they want to "keep it real"
I wonder if any gyrocopters will be included in the FlyBy?
This is happening NOW if anyone is in the DC area

I was at DC for this flyover. It was great to see so many warbirds showed up in one event. Here are some of my pictures.
About half of the pictures I took were blurry, out of focus. It was either my skill has deteriorated due to haven't done aviation photography for too long, or the auto-focus in my camera was acting up. Anyhow, better get this problem resolved before the airshow season. :)
wish the pictures could be accompanied with sound.
