Has anyone on here ever connected at DTW before? I'm eyeing an itinerary for JFK-MCI via DTW both ways that gives me only 30 mins on the return leg to catch my flight home to JFK. Dates are May 29-Jun 2. Any input? Should I go for it?

What aircraft type? McNamara terminal is broken up in to A, B, and C gates. B and C serve RJs and A serves mainline. Connecting from C to a gate all the way at the end of A is a bit time consuming. What type of planes are you flying on?

All mainline flights. I don't fly RJs if mainline is available between city pairs.

The MCI-DTW flight shows as only being on time 67% of the time. If it's on time the connection will be no problem. Both flights will operate from an A gate. If not you could be looking at a long layover in Detroit. With that being said, McNamara terminal is one of the nicer terminals to be at, so all isn't lost. If I didn't have anything time sensitive back at JFK, I'd go for it.

As long as your flights are in the A gates you should be alright. Even if you are going from A3 to A74 you can just jump on the tram and it will get you there.
I think normally its only the first flight of the day from Dtw to Jfk is Mainline. Every time I have flown out there for work it has been on a 319. Any time after noon it has been on a 900.
I may stick with LGA as much as JFK is easier. There's a chance the trip might be scrubbed too now. Job prospects and bills might postpone a while.
