Went out to catch Cargolux CLX774 from Luxembourg last Friday afternoon and when I left my house the weather was great. Sunshine and puffy white clouds. By the time I got on the interstate I saw grey skies building to the West but at any rate I pressed on for IND. I set up for arrivals on 23R which is where CLX774 would be coming in on. A thunderstorm cell was moving in by the time I got there when WN544 was arriving from Baltimore.
I caught a few more arrivals but the rain had started to fall and the pictures didn't turn out. I kept watching CLX774 get closer on Flightaware and noticed the plane had turned South to get around the storm that passed over the airport. Just when I thought I had lost it, the plane made a sweeping turn on final in the rain.
By this point the winds had changed due to the weather and arrivals switched to runway 32 (CLX774 had to land on 23R still because 32 is too short for 747s). I went over to 32 and grabbed Jazz 8023 from Toronto in a "hit and run" spot before heading for home.
