    JFK - 5/12/11

Did a little spotting at JFK this afternoon - John "Unattendedbag" from A.net was visiting family and took a day for some spotting. I got out a little after Noon, and the dreaded 22L/13L split for landing was in effect. Started out at North Woodmere until the sun swung around, then headed over to the Mounds. Unfortunately, as the afternoon went on, tower sent more and more traffic to 13L.

We watched this guy come in thinking "He looks awfully high, he looks awfully high..." then he pushed over to get back on glide slope. After a bit of trying, he decided to go around and make another go of it. I was amazed at how quiet the A380 was when they did go around.

AA One World came in as we were leaving Woodmere.

This guy got in on the first try...

As I said, a bunch of stuff went to 13L, including this guy...

    No "Unattendedbag" here...

At North Woodmere, we even got to see some of the local wildlife...

I was tuned in and listening to ATC when I heard the Emirates go around. Would have loved to see that whale go around.

    Wow, nice birdie catch!

Say, I was in the backyard area of my office, getting in some sun between patients at exactly 3 pm when an A340 of some sort went over. All white belly but due ot the angle I could not catch the tail. any idea what it was?
And I, I took the path less traveled by

Must have been, Mario. According to the EXIF, I shot the IB A340 at 3:05pm at the Mounds.

Definitely a great set Moose! Shame they were in split config and sending alot to 13L. And I agree also that that bird flying away with the fish is a killer shot.

Wish I was as much a fishermen as that bird is apparently. Good grab on that EK missed. Love how you clearly notice the pitch down. Looking at the 380's wing it doesnt quite look like a good get down slow down bird. I guess not every airplane can be as amazing at the 727
