    Gowen Field Fire Season

Lightning has been terrorizing the dry desert surrounding southern Idaho. A few days ago, sparks ignited a blaze near Eagle, a city not far west of Boise. So, I drove to Gowen and took a few shots of the this year's aerial fire suppression effort. Enjoy :)

nice shots! when i lived in KPRC that airport was used as a fixed-wing firefighting base. i remember seeing P-2s, P-3s and the occasional DC-6 or -7 taking off out of there.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Thanks. Ya, the fire was pretty close so roundtrip was about 10 mins. There were actually two P-3s but I managed to catch the same one twice, ha ha. Also a helo and a couple small bombers.

Thanks. The bombers are back in town today and there's a new one. Yellow tail -- yellow markings. Looks pretty P-2ish. I might try to steal a shot of it if I can track it down.
