Spanish airline Air Comet flight attendants posed nude for a calendar in hopes of drawing attention to their financial difficulties. Calendar excerpts have been exposed in Spanish news, the flight attendants are hoping that by posing for the calendar they will be able to draw attention to the fact that they had been working for the air carrier without being paid for the past nine months while working for the carrier.
Air Comet, formerly Air Plus Comet was an airline based in Madrid, Spain. It operated scheduled long-haul services from Madrid to 13 destinations in Central and South America, as well as services in Europe. Its main base was Terminal 1 at Madrid Barajas Airport. The airline worked together with well-known airlines such as AeroSur in a variety of codeshare agreements.
On 21 December 2009, a High Court in London affirmed a verdict favoring the German bank HSH Nordbank, which had sued Air Comet for not meeting the terms of payment for their leased aircraft. Due to the court decision the airline was unable to operate their four Airbus A330-200's, nor sell any fare tickets. As a result Air Comet announced the airline would cease operations.
Six new Airbus A330-223s that was to be delivered to Air Comet by Airbus sometime in 2010 remain at Airbus manufacturing plant in Toulouse. Negotiations are being held for the airliners to be sold to Hong Kong Airlines and the newly formed Scandinavian low-cost airline Feel Air, which is to start long-range operations in spring 2010.
