    Interesting Historic JFK Photos

    http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16750

There are some great pictures of JFK (back when it was IDL) in this link. Its interesting to me how much has changed, yet how much is still the same.

that was the JFk of my earliest memories, the last of the connies, and DC7s, the first jets, and saying a prayer in the Our Lady of the Skies Catholic church.
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

Dont want to date myself but my wife and I were married at the chapel of Our Lady of the Skies. My cousin was a chaplin there for many years. This is the JFK I remember. If I could figure out how to put slides on here I was at the IAT the night of the first 707 left there to go to Europe. I used to be either here or at LGA. For my holy communnion I had a choice of where to go for dinner and I chose the "Brass Rail" restaurant at Idelwild in the International Arrivals building. Remember watching customs going thru everyones bags from the windows surrounding the customs hall as it was called. Spent hours there. Took my first airplane ride on a Mohawk Convair 440 on a sightseeing trip around the city(can you believe that)????

Thanks for finding these. They bring back lots of memories. I especially like seeing the old BOAC VC-10's. They continued flying under the British Airways name until sometime in the 80's. I also recall that the fountains near the Control Tower and Chapels were illuminated each night. I think they were lit in all-white but I'm not sure. They could have been lit in multi-colors during the 1964-65 World's Fair. Great also to see the Pan Am Worldport when the rooftop was available to plane spotters.
