    June 29th = Y2K for US Aviation?

The FAA is switching to the ICAO flight plan standard on June 29th. Cold turkey. No transition period. Will all hell break loose?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

A lot of things will be getting switched to ICAO standards in the next two years. If we want to adopt all their aviation trends and practices why don't we switch to the metric system. The country has been fighting that since when the 70s?

Thanks FAA, for picking the start of a very heavy travel time (summer) and right in my favorite time of year at work, Thunderstorm season, for such a change over, let the CHAOS Begin !

    Nice Going !

Nah, it's actually my birthday present :)
