    Flight 911

Somebody mentioned PIA's flight 711. I do recall a flight 911 in the 1980's. It was SAS Flight 911 from Copenhagen, I believe. It was a B744 and came on a daily basis landing around 1430. The aircraft, I recall, were named "Huge Viking", "Dan Viking", etc. Suddenly, all SAS flights stopped coming to JFK and began using EWR. I could only suggest that the landing fees were less in EWR.

It probably was a 747-100. There were no 400's then. Soon afterwards, SAS stopped flying jumbos across the Pond and replaced them with DC-10s.

Wasn't SAS one of the carriers that heralded the arrival of real international service out of EWR? I seem to recall SAS starting Newark around 1988 or 89.
