Thanks for posting this; I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the proposed merger. IMO it’s going to happen and needs to happen or Midwest isn't going to make it. I love Midwest and their product but the fact is they don't fly to enough places to make their product attractive everytime I fly.
While merging with Airtran may very well see the end of Signature service the consumer should benefit in the MKE and MCI markets. I do see AirTran totally remapping the routes out of MKE though; they've tried for sometime now to get a hub going in the Midwest.
A few years ago they bid for ATA when ATA was in Chap 11 but WN out bid them, sad thing is AirTran won the bid allot less ATA ppl would be out of work. Merging with Midwest will give AirTran the foot hold they've wanted in the Midwest. American and United should be concerned as this will certainly draw traffic from ORD.
