The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Here is my latest JP, also in que for a.net, love the lighting on this one from work, one of the best kind of shots for me, the kind where the 20 seconds before I took the photo the camera was turned off and across the room, and I was getting my butt kicked, getting the shot was all about Luck ! Enjoy

Those JFK shots are really very nice. How do you all get such photos? Do you work at the airport? I must say that at first I saw all these shots from you guys on jetphotos and in these forums and I thought how great the spotting must be at JFK, but then I tried out the places on your maps and it sucked compared to lots of other airports and to the pictures that I regularly see in these forums. Are there any better spotting locations at JFK than the ones on the site's maps? It hardly is worth it to take the time to go to NYC for the places listed on those maps. Anyway, nice shots!

While this topic should continue in it's own thread in "Spotting Planning & Review," I just wanted to ask whether you had actually spent any time at any of the spots on the map? The majority of all of the photos you see on this site are from those very spots. With the exception of those who get occasional ramp access, we all shoot from spots like Costco and local parks and still get great shots!

Have you been out with us before? (please start a new thread, if you like)

Eric, nice work on the AA.

Eric shot with a long lens, while I focused on short lens work.

My point was that I (and probably other people) had high expectations for JFK based on what I had seen here and on jetphotos, and I was disappointed when I actually got here and saw how far away and/or boring the locations on the map were. I also was disappointed with the lack of any publicly accessible spots that can rival the other airports that I have been to. With the choice of where to go if I have a free day or two, JFK wouldn't be on my short list anymore.

Anyway, I don't get to NY often and haven't met anyone on these forums, but I still enjoy looking at your photos. Keep up the good work.

I don't have anything more to add, but thanks for pointing that out for the future.

MadDog is right. JFK has so much potential, and it's a shame that we often have to settle for locations so far form actual airport grounds that offer little view of the airport itself.

Photogrpahy at JFK is also very difficult without a 400mm lens. With the exception of 31 arrivals, you need $1,500 glass to stand a chance of getting anything full-frame.

I was so happy to see that these 2 got accepted! I love the KLM scheme and I kept missing the Iberia A346...until now.

Now if A.net ever gets their act together and clears the que, I might be able to upload some of these to them as well.
